1/2 Birthday

Ford hit six months old on Valentines Day – Wade and I took him out to dinner, which doubled as our romantic date, then we went to the Elko museum. I expected lots of cowboy paraphernalia and maybe some rail road stuff and even local wildlife. I thought it was a little weird when we found that the museum was filled with exotic animals from all over the world. It didn’t compare with some of the museums we have been to in other bigger cities, but it wasn’t too bad for Elko.

I also wanted to do a little half birthday party for Ford. We invited some friends and theIr kids over for dinner and games. The kids frosted cupcakes and played pin the heart on cat in the hat. We had a fun day.

Videos Of The Little Man

I’m not going to post videos of our little guy because for some reason I hate watching videos on blogs, especially boring ones, but if you enjoy watching stupid videos of other peoples kids just go to and type FordTom in the search box. There are a few in there, none of which are especially exciting but I recommend sticky buns and jumping.

10 Things I Like About Elko

Sometimes I have a bit of a negative attitude about Elko but there are a few things in no particular order that make living in Elko okay.
1. The smell of sagebrush – When you go outside on cold days the air is infused with the smell of sagebrush. It smells so good, I love to take in a deep breath when I go outside.
2. Friends – We are beginning to make some great friends that we like a lot.
3. Water Aerobics – Twice a week I go down to the community pool for a water aerobics class. It feels great and gets me out of the house.
4. Wades job – Wade likes his job and I like that he likes it. I also like that he gets to come home everyday for lunch and his day ends at 4:00 so I feel like we get to spend a lot of time together.
5. Spending the day with my little guy – I feel so lucky to be a stay at home mom. Ford and I hang out all day together and he makes me so happy.
6. In the middle of everywhere. – Although Elko is in the middle of nowhere we are also centrally located. We are just a few hours from our families in California, Utah, and Idaho.
7. View – I love looking out my window and seeing nothing but desert and mountains. I am beginning to see the beauty of the desert.
8. Church – The one thing I can count on no matter where we go.
9. Friendly Folks – Elko seems to be filled with friendly people that love to chat and don’t mind a good wave from a stranger passing by.
10. Weather – I’m still getting to know Elko’s weather, but so far so good. We’ve had a little rain and a little snow – both great in small quantities. The winter has been pretty mild so far and I am looking forward to the summer when I hear the temps are in the 80’s and 90’s.
